From Tony Lord on behalf of Rhos on Sea Cycling Club:

David T. Jones

Passed away on Saturday 26th June 2021 aged 79.

David from Llanfairfechan was a Rhos member for many years and known in the club as Davy or Dafydd.

He started work as an apprentice for Manweb and worked for them all his working life as an electrical engineer it used be a standing joke, Davy had been in every house in N. Wales during his working life.

He was a social club rider who attended many of the events promoted by the club. When volunteers were needed Davy was one of the first to volunteer whether it be at a club TT or an open event. I always remember him turning up at club TTs and the first words from him would be do you need any help.

In Open events promoted by the Rhos over recent years he would control the signing on for the event. He also assisted at cycle road races on his motorbike as a marshal.

Davy was a keen motorcyclists and enjoyed watching motorcycling events especially the Isle of Man TT. One of the highlights was meeting the great Joey Dunlop along the way.

He also was a keen fisherman and painter, many of his paintings were of the surrounding Llanfairfechan area. Davy for many years was a volunteer at The Royal Cambrian Academy in Conwy and was made an RCA Hon Member in 2020. Some of his paintings are displayed in the gallery at present.
